Economic activities are rather varied, and include: several retail and service businesses; a few manufacturing concerns and a small degree of natural resource development. The reserve is home to most of the services found in cities:

Food stores, filling station, pharmacy, hunting and fishing supply, gift shops, sportswear and sporting goods, hardware, shoe repair, florist, construction materials, etc.

Services, including: travel agency, secretarial, dry-cleaning, housecleaning, plumbing, welding, electricity, furniture-making, carpentry, decoration and interior design, etc.

General contractors in excavation, cement-laying, masonry, petroleum products and asphalting, transportation, forestry, livestock breeding, quarry and sand pit, etc.

The Kahnawake Economic Development Commission, also called Tewatohnhi'saktha, was founded in 1999 in order to stimulate and enhance Kahnawake's economic growth by investing in people and businesses, as well as other economic opportunities. The Commission makes available funding to entrepreneurs, conducts training, promotes entrepreneurship and marketing with a view to expanding markets beyond the reserve, etc.

The community owns a business incubator, inaugurated in April 2004, which is also managed by the Kahnawake Economic Development Commission (Tewatohnhi'saktha).
