Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) is responsible for two mandates, Indian and Inuit Affairs and Northern Development. Together, these programs support Canada's Aboriginal and northern peoples in the pursuit of healthy and sustainable communities and broader economic and social development objectives.
INAC has a diverse mandate in the Northwest Territories which includes administering economic development programs, and acting as a regulatory authority on major mining and infrastructure projects. Our programs and services play an important part in the day-to-day workings of the territory. INAC hires people from many different fields, such as geology, finance, information technology, resource management, Aboriginal affairs, human resources and the environment.
